Living Culture Climate Alliance Kenya has constantly been educating the Maasai community regarding gender-based issues i.e Gender Based Violence and Female Genital Mutilation.
Gender based Violence to our women is retrogressive thus a very important pillar in what we educate our community about.Women should be treated right and taken care of by their men however we’ve noted that due to the economic disparity caused by the Maasai Culture favoring men there arouse a need for LCCA KENYA to empower women through beadworks entrepreneurship(Maasai Shanga) and table banking to enable women earn a living reducing the dependency on their men.
Through our intervention and educating the community against Female Genital Mutilation we have created an enabling environment that promotes girls’ protection against the cut. It also reduces teenage pregnancies and child marriage while increasing girls’ chances of getting a formal education.
